E-learning�the imparting of education and training over the Internet�has created
new avenues in the UAE for the industrial and education sectors, redefining training
methodologies and overcoming geographical barriers. The Centre of Excellence for
Applied Research and Training (CERT), the commercial arm of the Higher Colleges
of Technology and Tata Interactive Systems (TIS), a global leader in e-learning,
seek to bring the benefits of the e-learning wave to the region, elevating its educational
standards to meet global benchmarks.
In this joint effort, TIS brings in the e-Learning expertise and CERT the understanding
of regional, innovative and learning needs of UAE and the Gulf region. CERT-TIS
is aimed at creating sophisticated state-of-the-art eLearning content and software
solutions for corporations, universities, schools, colleges, government and defence
organisations in the region.
CERT-TIS aims to play the role of an e-learning consultant in the region, thereby
accelerating the transfer of knowledge and advanced technology to the region. We
focus on promoting independent learning that addresses all stages of the lifelong
learning cycle. Our aim is to offer cost-effective access to world-class training,
cutting across geographical barriers, and reaching out to all segments of society.
CERT-TIS aims to augment the traditional Instructor-led Training (ILT) or class-room
based teaching effort in the region with its e-learning programmes.
CERT-TIS will also be involved in joint research in the area of learning needs and
learning solutions for all stages of the life-long learning cycle and provide academic
solutions for all segments of the regional market. Further, CERT and TIS have agreed
to explore additional avenues to enhance and further their mutual aims in e-Learning. |
